How cute is this shot by The Hearts Haven of Kristen + Glenn on their big day? Being architects, they were all about finding a venue that blended architecture + landscape for them, which are both big parts of their lives in Los Angeles. SmogShoppe ended up being the easiest decision they made, and Kelsey Rae Designs helped them bring their California concept to life.
Kristen says, Our concept was to represent our life together in California (I am from the east coast, Glenn is from the midwest). Therefore we wanted it to exude Los Angeles, combined with our love for architecture. We used the simplicity of the LINE—we wanted it to be subtle, but to represent our love of the built world, whether it be in the hand drawn line, the geometries of our graphics, the table accessories, etc. We went moody, jewel, autumnal colors: deep blue with pops of burgundy, gold. We planned for a year. Our biggest hurdle was keeping to a schedule throughout the planning process. Kelsey Rae Designs was amazing and outlined key milestones for us, and we did our best to stay on top of them. At first we treated every decision like it was precious, which definitely slowed us down. Your wedding is important, but go with your instincts (they’re usually right!) and go with the flow. It’ll allow you both to be part of the process, and to hopefully enjoy it. Also, work with a wedding planner! We were hesitant at first, but it quickly became the best decision we made. They will give you the best gift of all—the calmness to actually enjoy each moment of your day!
